Stretchy Zataar Macaroni Cheese
Stretchy Zataar Macaroni Cheese


An old favorite with a new life! Twist your traditions with this unique
pasta; it is a mix between the American and Arabic cuisines.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes approximately
Cooking Time: 20 minutes approximately
Serves: 4 persons

All you need

500g cooked al alali small Elbow Pasta #2 (cooked al dente)
4 cups milk prepared from al alali Full Cream Milk Powder
3 1/3 tbsps. butter
3 1/3 tbsps. flour
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 level tsp salt crystals
200g strong cheddar cheese
200g parmesan cheese
3 tbsps. zataar

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 180˚C (350°F)

  • Prepare béchamel sauce by melting butter in a heavy bottomed pan. Add flour into the melted butter, cook for 1-2 minutes

  • Add milk, mustard and Worcestershire sauce, then whisk
    continuously for 5-10 minutes approximately until the sauce is thick and
    creamy

  • Once the sauce is cooked, add the cheddar cheese and 1 1/2 of
    the parmesan. Add the al alali Pasta and place into a baking dish

  • Mix the remaining parmesan with the zataar and sprinkle generously on top of the pasta mixture

  • Bake in oven for approximately 20 minutes until bubbling and crisp

  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
