Palak Pepper Chicken - Recipe Book

Palak pepper chicken Is a silky and rich curry with the
goodness of palak and whole spices. The curry goes well with any Indian flat
bread or even with rice also.The combination of chicken with palak is great. The aroma and taste of this curry is finger licking.


Ingredients:
  1. Chicken- ½ kg

  2. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp

  3. Chilly powder- ½ tsp

  4. Curd / yogurt- 2 tbsp

  5. Salt-to taste

  6. Palak/ spinach- 300 gm

  7. Oil-1 ½ tbsp

  8. Crushed pepper corns- 1 tbsp

  9. Bay leaf-1

  10. Cardamom pods-2 nos

  11. Clove-2 nos

  12. Cinnamon-1 small stick

  13. Cumin seeds- ¼ tsp

  14. Onion finely chopped-1 large

  15. Ginger garlic crushed- 1 tbsp

  16. Green chilly-1 no

  17. Tomato puree-2 tbsp

  18. Coriander powder-1 tbsp

  19. Garam masala powder- ½ tsp

  20. Pepper powder-1 tbsp

  21. Curry leaves- 1 spring

  22. Kasoori methi (dried)- ½ tsp

Preparation:
  • Marinate the cleaned chicken pieces with ingredients from 2
    to 5 for at least 40 minutes in fridge.

  • Wash and clean the spinach well.

  • In a heated pan add the spinach leaves and sauté for 3 to 4
    minutes in medium flame until they are soft.

  • After cools down put it on a blender along with little water
    and make a fine puree out of it.

  • Keep it aside.

  • Heat a pan with oil; Add crushed pepper corns.

  • Add the whole spice (ingredients from 8-12)

  • Add thinly chopped onion and sauté until transparent.

  • Add ginger garlic and green chilly; sauté until raw smell
    goes off.

  • Add all the powders and tomato puree; mix well.

  • Add curry leaves and  marinated chicken pieces. Mix well and cover
    cooks it for about 10 minutes (stir occasionally).

  • Open the lid and cook for another 10 minutes until chicken
    pieces are cooked well.

  • At this time add the spinach puree and mix well. Cook for
    another 5-7 minutes until the spinach well coated with the chicken and the curry
    starts thickening.

  • Add kasoori methi (by crushing with hands) and switch off
    the flame.

  • Serve hot with the choice of your roti...
